What exactly is Dimona?
Dimona is the Immediate Declaration of Employment. For every employee you hire, you're legally required to report this to Social Security as an employer. This applies not only to permanent contracts. For students, flexible job workers and occasional workers, a Dimona is also mandatory, each with its own employee category in the system. Without a valid Dimona, your employee doesn't exist administratively with social security. Holiday pay, family allowances and benefits cannot be processed correctly.
When must Dimona IN and OUT be filed?
The Dimona IN must be filed by the moment the employee starts work. Not after: at the moment itself or before. The Dimona OUT must be reported by the next working day after employment ends. Is a contract ended early or extended? This change must also be reported, with its own deadline depending on the situation.
Special employee categories
For students, you use type STU. For flexible job workers, type FLX. For flexible jobs, Social Security automatically checks whether the employee meets the conditions. You receive either approval or rejection. Only after approval may the person start as a flexible job worker. For occasional workers, the rule is that IN and OUT dates are identical, unless the shift spans two calendar days.
An approved Dimona is not the same as attendance registration. These are two separate actions. If you forget the attendance registration, benefits cannot be processed correctly.
What are the consequences if you forget?
A missing or late Dimona is detected by the social inspection. You must then pay a solidarity contribution to Social Security. The minimum amount in 2026 is €3,674.09 per employee involved. Moreover, criminal penalties are possible under article 181 of the Social Criminal Code. The inspection draws up a report, after which Social Security sends a modification notice by registered mail.
